Senior Architect (Shanghai)

Requirement:

  • A globally minded individual with a passion for creativity and a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Professional degree in Architecture.
  • A minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience in a leading Chinese or international architecture firm, with full-cycle project experience from concept design, design development, technical design to handover.
  • Strong experience as a senior architect or project architect across at least 3 different project sectors (e.g., cultural, mixed-use, office – please specify your role and scope of work in your portfolio).
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, Grasshopper, Adobe Suite, etc. (please indicate your level of proficiency for each). Proficiency in AI and rendering software is preferred.
  • Possesses extensive expertise in technical drawings, building materials, design codes and standards, approval processes, and construction techniques.

 

Responsibility:

  • Works closely and communicates regularly with studio leadership at all project phases to advance design and technical development from concept through to handover.
  • Facilitates and oversees project plans, deliverables, schedules, and quality.
  • Directs and mentors junior team members in routine design work, while coordinating with consultants, clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure the realisation of design objectives.
  • Exhibits design initiative, aesthetic judgment, problem-solving ability, and decision-making, with a commitment to precision and accuracy.
  • Possesses strong capabilities in detail design, with the ability to propose innovative and achievable design solutions.
  • Maintains and refines high-quality 3D models to support ongoing design development and optimisation.
  • Proactively reviews team design outputs and completes project-related documentation on time and to a high standard.

Architect Intern (Shanghai)

Requirement:

  • Currently enrolled in the second year or above of a master’s program in Architecture or Design.
  • Experience across different design phases, including drawing, reports, physical model making, and rendering.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and 2D drafting software (please specify your level of proficiency for each in your application).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator are required; After Effects and Premiere are a plus).
  • Experience in visualisation and rendering
  • Excellent verbal and written English; fluency in Mandarin Chinese is preferred.
  • Experience with AI and 3D printing is preferred.

Responsibility:

  • Complete a 3-month internship at DSS Shanghai studio.
  • Actively participate in the design process, contributing to the development of drawings, presentations, physical models, etc.
  • Develop skills in rendering, modeling, and physical model making.
  • Assist studio leadership in communication with clients and consultants as needed.
  • Foster collaboration among architects and other team members.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of building systems, codes, and design-related knowledge.
  • Organise and maintain project archives and documentation.
  • Provide support to studio leadership as needed.
